He - -7:00 Mountain Standard Time -
Home, or what he had considered a home. Just a mile away from a cave network of ruins was a hut. On the outside, numerous trees has been cut down and formed into the general basis. The outside consisted of numerous bark slices fastened together by a layer of hardened clay. Numerous leaves also covered the hit, obscuring it from a large distance, making it look like a bush. This is what had been home to Garrett after he fled the Digital City. This was where he loved to live his life as a nomad.
"I'm home with some supplies."
It was a useless call, he knew that no one has been here for a while. All his partners usually traveled with him and since that was the case, they hardly returned home unless it was to rest.
"Garrett, the place is practically abandoned. We hardly come home now-a-days. This is the first time in months since we came here. "
Syl, Garrett's first companion in the Digital World. They had been through thick and thin from Hardie training matches, to confrontations with evil legions, and in general such through many adventures that would break the weak. He was friendly and loyal to his friends, and that made it even greater that they were a team.
The two of them entered the hut, Syl de-digivolving back to his child form., and looked at the forgotten furniture. Chairs had started to fall apart, the various bedding was destroyed or infested with some digital bugs, the interior has started to deteriorate, and the central fire pit had been abandoned. More work has to be done to get the hut back into proper shape.
" Then why not fix up the place? That's why Garrett picked up supplies in the first place."
Reora stepped into the little but, her silver fur getting covered with small twigs and leaves. A Renamon who has stood by Garrett as more of a guardian, watching over Garrett and Syl's sanity while on an adventure. She also has a crush on her tamer, yet Garrett was completely oblivious to her feelings. Likewise, however, Garrett has also took the time to defend her as well.
Their first meeting was in Primary Village, when Garrett rescued her egg from a Devimon. How her egg got there was a mystery to both her and Garrett. Whatever the case, Garrett went through hell and back to save her, and that is why she followed Garrett through thick and thin.

((A small re-introduction))
"Re-calibrating Battle Visor. Status: 10%"
Garrett smiled as he sat against the wall of his small hut. In front of him rested a makeshift workbench that had his Panzer Gauntlet and Battle Visor resting on it. Various tools lay scattered around the bench and his shield rested right next to him. With the down time he was allotted, he took the liberty of trying to find a way to upgrade his battle visors capabilities to better represent the status of his equipment.

"Welp," Garrett stood up, careful not to bump the workbench, "now is a good time to grab a small snack."
He stifled a yawn as he brought his arms above his shoulder to stretch. He had felt the tension in his muscles relax as he proceeded to twist his upper body. This caused his back to pop, which sent a sensation of relief through his being. With his moment of stretching out of the way, he walked to a nearby cupboard.
"Re-calibrating Battle Visor. Status: 30%"
"Yeah, yeah. I heard you the first time," he mumbled to the D-Ban. He crouched down and opened the cupboard, his eyes looking over the various jars that rested there. He reached forward to grab a jar filled with dried meat, only to stop short when his hair covered his face. "I should get that cut soon" he thought as he brought in his outstretched hand used it to brush his hair aside. As he did so, he felt something very important missing from his forehead.
"Re-calibrating Battle Visor. Status: 40%"
"Where is big bro's headband?" He felt the alarm in his head go off and warning bells flared to life. That headband, while the main reason he didn't realize he needed to cut his hair, was too significant to lose. It was given to him by his 'big-bro' David Mase before they parted ways at the central park a while back. "If you are going to get any stronger little brother, you are going to have to understand that all life is precious, even yours. You idiot."
"Re-calibrating Battle Visor. Status: 50%"
He could hear David's voice in his head, the memory beginning to return like it was yesterday. The day he met David at the park and was met with a brief sparring match turned into a life lesson. This life lesson, however, turned into something filled with more sorrow than joy. It was when he learned that David was dying, that he was to leave this world. It took him by surprise and he wasn't ready to bear the pain back then. "Eventually bro, this world is going to collapse. I won't be there to save everyone."
"Re-calibrating Battle Visor. Status: 60%"
Garret shifted some contents on the dining table, seeing if he took it off there. Not finding it, he made his way back to the cupboard and looked around the various ornaments on top of it. Nothing popped out at him, the black cotton/nylon mixture seemingly disappeared. He heaved a sigh and turned to walk toward the bed in the room. "We're going to find Tamer's Garrett. As many tamer's as we can reach, and we're going to help them get stronger."
"Re-calibrating Battle Visor. Status: 70%"
As he approached the bed, he found the piece of black cloth partially tucked under one of his pillows. lifting it up, he pulled the cloth out and brushed a few strands of straw from the fabric. "Looks like you must've fell off when I went to sleep last night," he said as he approached a small wash mirror on the wall behind him; throwing the pillow back on the bed.
"Re-calibrating Battle Visor. Status: 80%"
As he lay the cloth out in his hands, he looked into the mirror. He looked to the right and examined the prominent scar on the left side of his face. He chuckled and grinned, revealing a toothy smile. His golden eyes looked back at him and he examined his lengthy, brown hair. "Heh, guess I'm taking after 'big bro' more than I thought."
"Re-calibrating Battle Visor. Status: 90%"
Garrett brings the cloth up to his forehead and wraps it around. He starts to tie a knot and tightens the headband. Before fully tightening it, he leaves one hand to hold the semi knot in place while his other tussles his hair. Once his face is clear and the headband is under his hair, he ties it fully. With it on, he heaves a sigh of relief, his bangs no longer falling over his eyes. "I'll do my best from here on out. I will get stronger and try to follow in your footsteps," he said to the image in front of him, remembering the commitment he made to himself just before his departure.
"Battle Visor Re-calibration Complete. Finalizing sync with D-Ban operating systems."
Garrett chuckled to himself as he made his way back to the cupboard. Once again he reaches down and grabs the jar of dried meat. Opening it up, Garrett takes a piece and sets it in his mouth. Once he closes the lid, he sets it on the cupboard before he returned to the workbench. As he sat down against the wall, he chewed on the dried meat for a moment and thanked David mentally for providing him guidance into the ever changing future.
"Battle Visor Sync Finalized."
Garrett leaned forward and picked up the Battle Visor while proceeding to put it on. A small screen appeared and Garrett's name is automatically entered. With it being linked to the D-Ban, he was now able to track his partners in real time no matter the distance. The normal function of detecting enemies or neutral allies didn't change. The radar that initially appeared just in front of the right eye has been adjusted to appear just to the right of the right eye, allowing quick tracking of nearby entities without denying vision out of one eye. The analysis function in combat didn't change, but the overlays in combat were updated to better reflect the increase and decrease in power of Digimon by card effects. "It looks like the modification was successful."
As he removed the Battle Visor, he sets it on the workbench and looks over to the Panzer Gauntlet. He didn't have any need to change the capabilities of the gauntlet itself, all he wanted to do was sync it up with the D-Ban so that it can add its buffs to the overlay naturally. The only issue was that the Gauntlet itself had to be plugged directly into the D-Ban for the sync to work, however, he lacked the proper attachment to do so. That's why before he started to work today, he sent his partners out to retrieve the item. "Speaking of which; I wonder just how long they are gong to be gone."
Garrett looked over at the Battle Visor again and smiles as he puts it on. Utilizing the Sync, he was able to trace his partners to just outside the hut. "That was fast, I thought they would be gone for the whole day," he muttered as he took the Battle Visor off once more. "What brings you guys back?"
A PawnChessmon (black) was the first to march in. She had a piece of paper in her hand and stopped just shy of Garrett. From the body language she gave off, it was obvious she was very nervous. This was the first time she had to experience this state of regret that the others must have experienced in the past. "Uhh...we....sorta wanted...you to..."
"Come with you?" Garrett had a puzzled expression on his face. Sure, he understood what she was trying to say, but he wasn't expecting it to come from the PawnChessmon.
He watched as the tiny Digimon nodded her head while still holding out the paper to Garrett. "Tonya, did Syl or Reora put you up to this?" An honest question to the little Digimon who was still terrified of Garrett having an outburst.
"I see," Garrett reached down and took the piece of paper from Tonya, "Syl! Get in here!"
As if on cue, a Strabimon walked in with both hands behind his head. He was whistling a small tune with a smile on his face. He was doing his best to be innocent, but with the length of time that the two had been partners, their ability to read one another grown. "You called, Garrett?"
Garrett crossed his arms as he stared down Syl, theirs eyes locked in place. Unbeknownst to either of them, they had entered into an unofficial staring contest. Syl did his best to keep eye contact, trying not to shift his eyes from Garrett to Tonya. He already figured that Tonya ratted him out, it was only a matter of time until he was scolded. Garrett, however, continued to stare Syl down with the tenacity of Alphamon. Of course, Syl has never seen an Alphamon, but he's heard stories about them. "Tell me," Garrett spoke after a few moments of silence, "did you make Tonya come to me with the paper or did you ask her?"
Syl blinked and lowered his head, "I made her do it."
Syl expected to get a scolding, maybe a slap or something, however, nothing came. When he looked up, he noticed that Garrett had poured a small glass of juice and handed it to Tonya. The next, he watched Garrett put the juice down and walk up to him, the paper rolled up in his hand. Once again he closed his eyes and expected a hit, but nothing came; all he felt was a pet on his head and a soft chuckle, "Syl, you should know better than to bully others; especially those who are our teammates."
Syl nodded his head as he felt Garrett's hand leave his head. He smiled a bit, starting to open his eyes when he felt the light tap of the paper on his forehead. Nothing too hard, but it was enough to send the signal that he should've know better. "Loud and Clear, Garrett!"
Syl raised his head and gave a brief salute, "Don't change Syl. You're pure comedy."
Tonya, Syl, and Garrett all looked in the direction of the coming female voice. Reora, a silver Renamon, waltzed inside with a wide grin on her face. She was wiping tears out of her eyes and avoided looking at Syl for the duration of the debacle. She was Garrett's second partner in this world and one of the greatest assets that the duo had until Tonya came along. "Still, that was great to witness from the door. You definitely dropped your guard there."
Syl grew slightly red in the face as Garrett walked over to the small table to sit down. As he sat down in one of the pulled out chairs, he glanced across his three partners. He smiled and watched how Tonya reached for more juice, Syl retaliating with his own retort to Reora, and Reora just firing back. Sure, his partners all had their own quirks and personalities, but this was his family. A family whose bond couldn't be broken, unless Murphy steps in and says something different.
As he unfurled the paper, he realized just how large a task this would have been. From what he wrote down, he had no idea what he was looking for either. He knew he needed something to sync up the D-Ban connection to his equipment, but what that was, he was completely unsure. He stifled a sigh and looked at his partners once more, "Alright, we can all go shopping for the items, first, we should eat. I'm sure we're all hungry."
At the mention of food, Syl and Reora had stopped their bickering. They were both pretty hungry after they made the trip back and some food would help. Tonya also nodded her head and set the juice on the counter. Garrett could only set the paper down on the table and get up to move to the cupboard. Once he neared it again, he looked through the cupboard at all his supplies. He didn't realize it earlier, but they were all pretty low, "from what we have left, all I can make is a basic soup. Would we be fine with that?"
"That would be fine!"
"Food is food, I'm starving!"
"No issues here."
With his partners blessing, he proceeded to grab the ingredients to make the basic soup. IT didn't take him more than 15 minutes to cook the meal due to the lack of supplies. The amount he made though was enough to fill the four of them up without any issue. Once it was fully served, everyone gathered around the small table and ate happily, deciding to keep quiet for the meal. Even without the chatter, Garrett was still happy to have these three as his partners.
Once they were finished with their meal, Reora and Syl decided to clean up and Tonya went back to drinking some juice. Garrett went over to the workbench and picked up the Battle Visor once more. He placed them over his eyes, the visor acting as sunglasses in it's off state. Next, he picked up the Panzer Gauntlet and armored up his right forearm. Once it was equipped, he could feel the gauntlets innate properties come to life to enhance him and his Digimon speed. The last item was his shield, whose bulk made for one of the best workouts in his down time. He bent down and slid is left arm into the guard behind he shield. When he first got this shield, the D-Ban made it bulky to wear, but now; it was easier to take on and off.
Once he was fully equipped, he used his right hand to grab his two deck holders. One holder housed two different decks, each deck consisted of two different combat choices against Digimon and Tamers as well as general recovery in the field. The other deck holder didn't hold a deck; it held only a single card. The Blue Card that Garrett had acquired for his partners evolution was the only one for quick access on the fly. Without this card, his partners wouldn't be able to go past the Adult stage, thus he kept it securely by his side.
Once his decks were secured, he grabbed the messenger bag that hung on the wall and slung it over his shoulder. He made sure to check if there would be some rations as well as other general goods he needed for the travel to the city. Luckily, he was still well supplied for the traveling aspect of his life, and thus grabbed his travel cloak. This cloak wasn't anything special, just helped stave off the elements in the case of environmental disaster. Once that was on, he was fully equipped and looked at his companions. They were all ready to travel as well. "Let's head out!"
Everyone nodded at the same time and all left the building. Once outside, Syl digivolved to his Adult form, Garurumon. Garrett was the first one to climb on his back, and help Tonya into his lap. Reora digivolved to her Adult Form, Kyubimmon (Silver), and placed herself next to Syl. It would be easier to run along side Syl than on his back, something she learned a long time ago. When things were settled, the group started their travel toward the city; starting on a fresh adventure once more.
